Session abstract:

The United Nations has recognized 2015-2024 as the International Decade for People of African Descent. It is a decade for recognition, development, and justice for the approximately 200 million Blacks in the Americas and millions of others across the globe. But what is recognition in a world that continues to silence Black people? What is development for Blacks facing the dire effects of climate change? What is justice when the rights of Blacks in settler colonial societies are at the mercy of systemic and institutionalized anti-Black racism? This talk will explore anti-Black racism from a global perspective and what we can all do for change.
